Precursors to improved organisational effectiveness through diversity

We have recently aired our opinion on diversity in Namibia and the impact in organisations. In this article we will examine the precursors to the perceived positive effects of that diverse workforces are claimed to have in organisations. In a previous article we highlighted the work of Thomas and Ely (1996) where they developed a theory on the underlying paradigms that organisations use to promote diversity in their place of work.

Continuing on from that we will base our discussion on the findings of Thomas and Ely in 2001 where they expanded on these paradigms and applying the paradigms to the processes and outcomes of work groups through the lens of cultural diversity.
